Editorial illustration: Cloud migration: planning, risks and costs

Roadmap for migrating applications to the cloud with predictability and FinOps.

Migrate with governance

Avoid blind lift-and-shift. Start with candidate workloads, establish a cost baseline and define stages with validations.

1. Assessment

Inventory of apps, dependencies and risks. Plane by waves.

2. Execution

Pilot environment, infrastructure automation and observability. Backout plan for each release.

3. FinOps

Right-sizing, scaling and cost tags. Reports by product/team.

Do you want to migrate safely? We deliver blueprints and pilots at a controlled cost.

How to turn the topic into a hiring decision

Migrating to the cloud does not automatically reduce costs. Licenses, traffic, storage, and required availability change the bill. Compare maintaining, optimizing, or moving each application, rather than assuming everything must change at the same time.

What to include in the scope

Include dependencies, data, migration window, backup, and return. A pilot must reproduce relevant load and integrations. Define who manages accounts, access and consumption alerts after delivery.

How to check delivery

Rehearse restoration, check migrated data, and validate critical journeys. Compare performance and cost against a documented benchmark. The project should only move forward when there are clear criteria for continuing or returning.
