Not all data needs to reach the other system immediately. The choice between batch and real time must consider the decision that depends on the information, volume and cost of operating the integration.
How to evaluate this decision
Set the maximum acceptable delay by event type. A daily analytical update may be sufficient, while an order confirmation requires another response. Consider spikes and dependencies: real-time does not eliminate unavailability. In some cases, rapid events and periodic reconciliation complement each other to provide an operational response and provide consistency.
