The same image can illustrate a concept in one article and be decorative in another. An isolated visual description does not guarantee alternative text appropriate to its role on the page.
The design to commission
Provide authorized content context and classify the image's purpose. Useful descriptions convey relevant information without inventing people, brands or numbers absent from the visual. Diagrams need specialist review when relationships might be misinterpreted. Decorative images require different treatment from informative content; filling every field with long descriptions is not inherently complete accessibility. Compare assistance with editorial forms asking for purpose and manual descriptions. Software may speed up suggestions for large libraries, but reviewers should remain close to publication. Define product-name preservation and uncertainty handling. Alternative text is not a place to accumulate commercial keywords. Integrate with the content tool and distinguish drafts from approved descriptions, including translations preserving meaning. Test whether descriptions remain appropriate after an image is reused in a different article rather than assuming an asset-level caption always fits every page.

- Identify editorial purpose before suggesting descriptions.
- Limit statements to evidence supported by images and context.
- Review translations without adding nonexistent information.
Acceptance with an exception
In hypothetical testing, a diagram shows two stages without numerical values. Suggestions should explain the visible relationship without inventing percentages or suggesting proof of business results.
