Buyers start forms on phones, save progress and finish on computers. Session-based reports may classify the first visit as abandonment even though the inquiry was completed. Measurement must distinguish browsing sessions, drafts and submissions actually received by the business.
Define the unit that follows the inquiry
Compare in-session completion with completion of identifiable drafts over time. Session measures assess visits; draft measures describe continuity where authorized relationships exist. Do not substitute one for another or assume every device belongs to the same person.
Still-valid drafts remain under observation rather than definitive failure. Agree analytical windows suited to the process and identify cutoff dates. When systems cannot relate resumed work, show that limitation and assess available navigation without inventing complete journeys or confidently attributing unidentified visits to previously saved drafts.

Test the interpretation of the report
In a hypothetical example, a draft resumes twice and submits once. Preserve visits, resumptions and one completion without counting three opportunities. Also create a draft lacking recoverable relationships: missing identification must appear in reporting rather than automatically becoming confirmed abandonment when no subsequent link can be established.
